"When you're shy and nervous, you're probably insecure." (Smith)
My mom always told me if I laugh too loud, it's probably because I'm insecure, not because I'm a loud person in general or because I love laughing because it makes me feel better. I mean yeah as soon as I start to laugh, others join. Or if I make jokes, it's because I'm insecure, maybe I just like making jokes or putting a smile on someone else's face when it's even with a dumb joke.
Parents nowadays don't get what their teenagers go through on a daily basis, it's always "it's in your head", "that's not funny", "oh you laugh too hard therefore you come off as insecure".
Oh, my absolute favorite one! I love human beings and I LOVE giving out compliments whether it's to a woman or a man. Always when I compliment a woman on her shoes or a man on his jacket, my mom would comment and say, "why are you flirting with a complete stranger?"
It really boggles my mind, because apparently I'm not allowed to be a good person, show someone a little bit of respect and compliment them on what they wear or what a beautiful smile they have. I mean a compliment to a stranger goes a long way because you never know what someone goes through on the daily and they're deserving of being shows compassion and kindness.
